The Passing of Lt. Chris Gold:
January 20, 2021 – It is with our deepest regret that CCSO was informed of the passing of longtime State Board Member and friend retired Correctional Lieutenant Chris Gold. Chris expired on January 19, 2021, at the age of 55. He began his career in August of 1994, with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation when he attended the Richard A. McGee Training Center. On October 7, 1994, Chris reported to CSP-SAC. Chris promoted at CSP-SAC to Correctional Sergeant on April 8, 1996, and then accepted a promotion to Lieutenant at CDCR Headquarters on February 18, 2008, where he remained until his retirement on May 21, 2015.
In 1998 Chris began his dedication and kinship with the CCSO, and ultimately moved up to become one of our most memorable State Board Members for his great personality, his sense of humor, and his ability to lift your spirits with laughter. “CCSO Strong” was a term coined by Chris, and it is one we still use to this very day. The term will forever represent his passion and devotion to our Organization, as well as our love and remembrance of the wonderful man, father and dear friend Chris was.
Our deepest condolences are extended to Chris’ family and friends during this difficult time. Funeral Services, arrangements and other details will be available in the future.
