Annual STB Drive:
Over the past few weeks, CCSO State Board Member Sgt. Jeff Welch, PBSP, and Sgt. Craig Sorensen, CIM, along with other representatives, have visited 12 prisons to solicit annual and regular Supervisory Time Bank (STB) donations. Overall, it was a huge success and we finished with a total of 790 STB hours. Additionally, 22 new members signed up. CCSO is grateful to Jeff, Craig, and everyone else who assisted in this effort. CCSO appreciates your hard work! The table below highlights the results, and the list of incentives follows if you would like to donate. Please reach out to your local Chapter President, or contact the CCSO office, if we missed you on our visits and you are interested in donating.
Valley State Prison 70CCSO Institution Visits:
CCSO representatives may be in your area this month. They will be touring the institution and speaking with members and prospective members. Please contact your Chapter President if you wish to visit with them or have any questions or concerns to discuss. We are scheduled to visit the following institutions:
- November 30, 2021: COR & KVSP
- December 1, 2021: NKSP & SATF
- December 2, 2021: ASP & WSP
Negotiated Health Care Payments:
In recognition of increased health and wellness needs tied to the COVID-19 pandemic, with respect to health benefits, managers and supervisors connected to Bargaining Unit 6 shall receive $208 per month paid in a single lump sum of $2496 once in the calendar year 2021. A similar payment has been provided to many non-custody members. SEIU rank and file negotiated an additional monthly payment of $260, also afforded to managers and supervisors tied to SEIU, which started in the July 2020 pay period and continues through June 30, 2022. If other bargaining units negotiate a similar payment, then CCSO will lobby for those affiliated supervisors and managers to receive the same negotiated payment. Additionally, CCSO believes that all supervisors and managers that are essential workers and have been working in challenging conditions through this pandemic should receive compensation. Once federal and state guidelines are released regarding essential worker premium pay, the State will meet and confer with the rank-and-file bargaining units. CCSO will meet with CalHR to ensure that the same benefits provided to rank-and-file staff will be given to affiliated supervisors and managers.
State President Election Results:
Various members received a nomination for the position of State President. Each member declined the nomination except for current State President Art Gonzales. As such, State President Gonzales will continue as State President for the next four-year term, beginning January 2022.
Keynotes:
Our fall edition of the Keynotes magazine is currently going to print. Be on the lookout in your mailbox. We are always eager to feature member perspectives. If you have an idea for an article, please write it and submit it, or contact the office for more information.

Mark your calendars – CCSO’s annual conference and 30th anniversary will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 7-10, 2022. Our staff is already working hard to make this the best annual conference yet! We cannot wait to celebrate CCSO’s success and hope all Chapter Presidents will plan to attend.
