PRESIDENT’S REMARKS:
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for supporting me as your president. I am truly humbled and honored to represent the most hard-working employees in the state. Often it is a thankless job, with long hours away from your families in a challenging environment, but when duty calls, you step up without hesitation.
With the start of the new year, I have big goals, and I see a bright future for our organization. Significant changes are underway that will impact us. We must come together and work harder than ever to fight for what we deserve.
I know there will be many challenges and more work thrown on you, but I urge you to stay strong and hold your head high. Keep up the good work, stay professional, do the right thing, and value those who work around you. I promise I will do everything in my power to ensure you are recognized, treated fairly, and compensated for your sacrifices.
Happy New Year!! Stay safe and stay healthy.
Art Gonzales
State President
RJD GOLF TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS:
On December 17, 2021, Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility staff hosted their annual golf tournament at the Singing Hills Golf Resort in El Cajon. The event also featured a Christmas toy charity drive. CCSO sponsored the event, and we had a great team both on and off the course. Gil, Art Sr., and Rich represented as the CCSO veteran golfers, and Kim, Craig, and Sabrina set up a recruitment booth and cheered everyone on along the way. The event was full of laughs, a few missed shots, and a whole lot of fun! We recruited a few new members and solicited some much-appreciated donations of Supervisory TimeBank hours. Thank you to our RJD members for putting on a fantastic event for a great cause. We will see you again at next year’s tournament.
ANNUAL STB DRIVE:
Over the past few months, CCSO State Board Member Sgt. Jeff Welch, PBSP, Sgt. Craig Sorensen, CIM, and other representatives have visited 21 prisons to solicit annual and regular Supervisor Time Bank (STB) donations. Overall, it was a huge success, and we finished with a total of 1352 STB hours. Additionally, 35 new members signed up. CCSO is grateful to Jeff, Craig, and everyone else who assisted in this effort. CCSO appreciates your hard work! The table below highlights the results, and the list of incentives follows if you would like to donate. Please reach out to your local Chapter President, or contact the CCSO office, if we missed you on our visits and you are interested in contributing.
