CCSO 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
A message from President Gonzales:
I am incredibly grateful to everyone who attended the 30th CCSO conference. This year’s conference was a huge success, and I’m thrilled by the positive feedback we’ve received thus far. Thank you to Mary, Nicole, and our office staff for working tirelessly to host a fantastic event. This event was no easy task to organize. I am proud and humbled to be your State President, and I will continue to work hard for you. Please be safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
2022 Conference Recap:
CCSO members, staff, and guests met at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, April 7-9, to commemorate 30 years of ‘Supervisors Representing Supervisor.’ We kicked off our event with a fabulous reception at the Apollo pool. The venue was gorgeous, and everyone came together for appetizers, drinks, music, and great conversations. We were fortunate enough to have generous sponsors host the event for all to enjoy while meeting new faces and seeing some familiar ones. The weather was perfect, and we were overjoyed at the turnout. So many of you were able to come, relax and enjoy your first night of the conference.
The next meet-up was Friday evening, April 8, for our Chapter Presidents General Session, which began with the Presentation of Colors by the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison Honor Guard. Lieutenant Corey Moore, RJD, sang an incredible rendition of the National Anthem before the call to order by President Art Gonzales. The meeting opened with an introduction of the CCSO State Board of Directors, followed by organizational updates from President Gonzales. The evening was filled with a lot of excitement, and we got to see the passion of our Chapter Presidents in action! The Chapter Presidents brought the dues increase vote to the floor, and it was passed 30-7. The dues increase will take effect on August 1, 2022.
CCSO appreciates your support with the dues increase. This increase will help the organization tremendously to provide the best legal representation and other benefits and support for our membership. The General Session was informative, with a record turnout of chapters and their members, coupled with spontaneous action-packed discussion.
Saturday morning, April 9, CCSO jumped right into our lineup of speakers at the annual conference starting with Thien Ho, Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney for Sacramento. Thien gave us an inside journey of one of his high-profile cases, the Golden State Killer. He was followed by Neil Gang, Pinole Chief of Police and organizational wellness aficionado. This man is making many other departments look at how they’re supporting their staff. It was another excellent presentation, and we look forward to having him speak again at other CCSO events. Silvia Wilson with CalPERS went over some critical information for our members getting ready to retire. She was informative and answered many questions. Jon Rhome with Atlas Privacy spoke to us about cyber threats on our identity and steps for us to take to keep our personal information secure. Saturday’s session ended with the excellent Brandi Harper and Mike McCoy, attorneys with Castillo Harper, APC. They gave our members great details on the new body-worn cameras. We appreciate all the knowledge they both have to share with us. Saturday evening was our Gala dinner to celebrate our organization’s past 30 years of success. Simply put, a great night was had by all! The CCSO office staff did an outstanding job facilitating the entire conference, and they blew us away with our Gala Dinner. From the beautiful table décor to the exceptional meal served, followed by a night of dancing, everyone in attendance had a wonderful celebration. The Gala closed out our conference the right way. All of us here at CCSO want to thank each of you who made the trip to Las Vegas. We appreciate the support and loyalty you have given this organization for over 30 years!
