CCSO Partners with PORAC to Expand Health Care Options
The California Correctional Supervisors Organization (CCSO) has always prioritized the health and well-being of its members. One of the greatest challenges faced by our custody staff, particularly those serving in rural and underserved areas, has been the lack of accessible and reliable healthcare options.
To address this, CCSO recently presented a proposal to our Chapter Presidents, and with their approval, we are moving forward with a new health care benefit option explicitly designed to expand access for custody members in need. This milestone was made possible through our partnership with the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), whose established benefits platform will now be available to CCSO custody members.

We encourage all eligible members to explore these new health benefit opportunities and see how they may better serve you and your family.
State Elections eligible
It’s your chance to make a difference! The CCSO State Presidential Election nomination forms are heading your way, and your participation is vital in shaping the future of our organization.
Please note: A recent change to the CCSO Bylaws now specifies that only current State Board of Directors members are eligible to be nominated and elected as State President. [Click here to view the list of eligible state board members and the revised copy of the CCSO Bylaws.
Be sure to mark your calendars with these key election dates and deadlines:
- September 5 – Presidential election nomination forms mailed to members. Forms must be received at the Berger and Company address by October 5.
- November 5 – Ballots mailed to members. Completed ballots must be received at the Berger & Company office by December 5.
- December 5 – Election results announced.
Every vote counts, and we encourage all members to take part in this important process!
Important Bylaws Update
Recent bylaw amendments have updated the nomination process for the State President election. Candidates must now meet new eligibility requirements to be nominated.
We encourage all members to carefully review these changes before submitting nominations.

CCSO Accident Insurance – Hartford Update
After careful review, CCSO has determined that we are unable to continue covering the cost of Accident Insurance through Hartford for all members effective 10/01/2025. This benefit was first provided in January 2021; however, after analyzing Hartford’s usage reports, we found that only a small number of members have utilized the coverage. Unfortunately, the overall cost does not justify maintaining it as a CCSO-funded benefit.
However, this benefit is still available. Members who wish to continue this coverage may do so by contacting the CCSO office to add the Accident Insurance directly to their individual policy.

month, while non-custody staff pay $35 per month. For more information, please contact the CCSO
Office, and our CLEA representative will reach out to answer any questions.
At the most recent CLEA conference, it was voted to implement a rate increase of $0.50 beginning in
July 2026, with an additional $0.50 increase each July thereafter—unless a motion is made and
approved during the April CLEA conference to stop the increase.
Chapter Representatives: Please make sure your members are informed about this excellent
benefit that is available to all CCSO members.
